


Chief Executive - Health Promotion Agency
Clive Nelson has been the Chief Executive of the Health Promotion Agency since the agency's inception in 2012, merging two former entities under an establishment board. He has previously worked in senior roles with a strategy, change management and performance optimisation focus in the private and public sectors. MBA qualified, he is a member of the Institute of Directors. Clive was the first ever public sector recipient of the Chief Executive Marketing Excellence award at the 2016 TVNZ Marketing Awards. Previous winners of this award include Rob Fyfe of Air New Zealand in 2012 and the CEOs of Frucor (2013) and Whittakers (2014). In their citation, the judges described Clive's leadership of the HPA as insight-based and creative with a constant focus on results. He is married with two teenage sons and divides his time between Auckland and Wellington.
